AVIATION
Comair asked to return their licence, might never fly again
Any hope of saving Comair appears to now be lost, as the company has been asked to return their operating certificate. Comair may never fly again, after the South African Civil Aviation Authority asked the Kulula and BA franchise parent to return the copy of its Airline Operating Certificate.

Parliament at odds with Nehawu over ‘mandatory’ Covid-19 vaccinations
The battle lines have been drawn in parliament with the National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union (Nehawu) rejecting an instruction for staff to get Covid-19 vaccinations or be prepared to do PCR tests at their own expense when they head to the legislature.

High court ruling ‘has serious fallout for NHI’
The department of health’s ambitions for controlling where doctors work have been dealt a huge blow by the high court in Pretoria, after it declared the National Health Act’s provisions for issuing health establishments with a “certificate of need” unconstitutional and invalid.

Regulator flags Popia ‘grey area’ concerns
More than 700 consumers have complained to the Information Regulator about direct marketing since the Popi Act came into effect on 1 July 2021. ‘The regulator plans to issue a directive on whether telephone calls are included.’
