NB – NOTICE RELATING TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF GUIDELINES ON THE REGISTRATION OF INFORMATION OFFICERS IN TERMS OF CHAPTER 5 OF THE PROTECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION ACT 4 OF 2013

 

The Information Regulator (Regulator) has developed draft Guidelines on the Registration of Information Officers (Guidelines), for Comment. The draft Guidelines are informed by section 55(2) which requires that a responsible party registers its Information Officer with the Regulator before taking up his or her respective duties in terms of the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 and the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000.

FOSCHINI GROUP PLANS TO BUY JET FOR R480M

 

The Foschini Group (TFG) has entered into an agreement to buy certain commercially-viable stores and selected assets of Jet, a clothing retail division of embattled Edcon, for a cash purchase consideration of R480 million.

DRAFT REGULATIONS PLACE GREATER RESPONSIBILITY ON PRODUCERS OF LIGHTING, ELECTRONIC, PAPER AND PACKAGING PRODUCTS

 

It is estimated that South Africa generates approximately 108 million tonnes of waste per year. As much as 90% of this waste (with an estimated value of more than R25.2 billion) is dumped or disposed of in landfill sites across the country, which are rapidly filling up and approaching closure.

BORDER MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY BILL SIGNED INTO LAW

 

President Cyril Ramaphosa has signed the Border Management Authority Bill of 2020 into law. The new legislation came into effect on Tuesday 21 July 2020.
