SA faces ‘chicken-price tsunami’, warn importers

South Africa should scrap all trade-related tariffs on chicken, introduce a three-year moratorium on new duties and remove value-added tax on the protein to ease pressure on food costs, according to a group that represents importers and exporters of poultry, beef and pork.

 Big blow for auditing watchdog: Court rules some of its fees are unlawful

The auditing industry regulator has been stripped of the power to charge several new fees it created to fund its operations.

Over 1 600 chartered accountants from the East Rand in Johannesburg have succeeded in persuading the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria to set aside some fees charged by the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors (IRBA).

Regulations governing complementary medicines are invalid: SCA rules

Regulations governing complementary medicines are invalid.

The Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) made this determination when it dismissed with costs the application by the minister of health for leave to appeal against a Pretoria high court judgment passed in October 2020.
